Our mission is to reach out to the unsaved, unhappy and unchurched for Jesus Christ and to bring spiritual maturity to every believer as we equip them for service to God.

Church History
The Free Methodist Denomination had its beginnings in New York, in 1860. Its founder, B.T. Roberts had challenged the Methodist Church’s shifting from Biblical principles, along with its practice to the renting of pews, catering to a wealthy populace, and its refusal to denounce slavery. Roberts was effectively expelled from the Methodist denomination, and Free Methodism was soon born.
Four years later, Roberts came to Freeport, and preached to a group of people that would soon form the First Free Methodist Church in Freeport. It was founded on June 10, 1864, and met in the old Concert Hall on Stephenson Street. It would later find a permanent home on Broadway, with the church being remodeled in 1943. It was known throughout the community as “The Little Brown Church on Broadway.”
In the 1960s, land was purchased on Route 26, with the hope of someday relocating the congregation. In 1984, the community encouraged the church to build. So, the congregation found a new permanent home on the corner of Route 26 and Cardinal Drive. Oddly enough, it was brown and was known as “The Little Brown Church on Route 26.” In 2000, with a growing congregation, the church built a large addition. It is now known as “The Big White Church on Route 26.”
Pastor Don Jamerson
Over 37 years ago, I, a young pastor, along with my wife, our two little boys, and church members, unloaded a truck on American Street. My goal was to establish a life and minister to the 33 people who attended on the first Sunday. I planned to stay for a few years, help the church grow, and then move on to the next church. I did all this but remained at the same church. It has been my pleasure to be this congregation’s pastor through all the changes that God has brought us through. To HIM be all the glory for the GREAT things HE has done.
